According to 1Up, a court in Quebec has granted Ubisoft an injunction that prevents THQ from violating the non-solicit clauses of Ubisoft Montreal’s employees. This development comes after a number of employees at the Assassin’s Creed studio departed from the company under suspicious circumstances.
After leaving Ubisoft Montreal last year, it was announced that Assassin’s Creed creative director, Patrice Desilets, would be heading up a new Montreal-based studio for THQ. Since then, several other Ubisoft Montreal staffers have departed the company for various reasons that have raised some eyebrows.

After being planned for launch in April, 1Up reports that the PlayStation Rewards Program has been postponed.
“Based on what we learned, we have decided the program is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned. But rest assured, we will continue to thank loyal and devoted customers like you with innovative offerings.”

1Up reports that Microsoft is looking for “multiple thousands” of testers for an Xbox 360 system update preview program. This one involves discs being sent to participants, as it’s intended to help Microsoft prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format. While precise details are few at this time, the program will be kicking off in the next two weeks, so those who apply should receive notification by email fairly soon if they’ve been accepted. You must be an Xbox Live member located in the United States in order to participate, and Xbox Live Gold members will have a better chance of getting in. Those who are accepted will receive a copy of Halo: Reach “along with other possible rewards.”
Thanks go out to OmegaBob for bringing this to our attention.

GameSpot reports that Atari is taking another crack at the classic arcade title, Warlords. The publisher has enlisted Griptonite Games to develop the game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a summer release in mind.
The downloadable revamp is being billed as a “whimsical reinvention” of the arcade classic, which saw players slide Breakout-like paddles around castle walls, attempting to deflect a fireball away from their own keep and into the heart of their opponents’ strongholds. The Griptonite remake will attempt to maintain its predecessor’s multiplayer focus with online and offline cooperative and competitive modes. It will also add a new layer of strategy where players will now need to marshal soldiers to capture control points.

1Up reports that while Fatal Frame, Tecmo’s Japan-styled horror adventure series hasn’t been seen in America for half a decade, it might be making a comeback.
“I can’t discuss exact details yet, but we are working hard on something right now,” said series producer Keisuke Kikuchi. “I think we’ll be able to make an announcement soon, so I hope people look forward to it.”
First released on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in 2002, the Fatal Frame series features survival-horror action that focuses on Japanese occult themes. The most recent title, Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, was launched for the Wii in 2008, but failed to receive an official overseas release. Nintendo showed media from a new Fatal Frame title back at September 2010 conference in Japan, but no further information has come out on the series since then.

Battle: Los Angeles the game |

According to Joystiq, Sony Pictures’ upcoming Battle: Los Angeles movie is pretty much a video game. Like a lot of sci-fi shooters, aliens attack L.A. and the American military swoops in to defend it. As for the actual game, a downloadable tie-in will mirror the story of the film, as you assume the role of a Marine whose job it is to end the aliens.
I am looking forward to the movie, but if the picture shown is anything to go by, the game…not so much.

Stardock’s Brad Wardell on Elemental |

“Unlike the other examples you’ve heard tonight, this game shipped. It’s at the store right now. At Wal-Mart. Yeah.”
Joystiq reports that that ominous statement was slipped into the middle of Brad Wardell’s “Failure Workshop” speech last week, where the Stardock head discussed a project he now considers a complete failure, Elemental: War of Magic. He used it as a starting point for what would not happen this time around with Elemental: Fallen Enchantress.
“If someone had an idea, we’d say Oh sure, go ahead! Throw that in!” Wardell explained, describing the disorganized nature of Elemental‘s development. “That works okay if you have seven guys. It doesn’t work so well when you have 18 guys.”
