Booting up Kinect games early blocks Xbox Live |

If you’re somehow lucky enough to get a Kinect game early, you’re probably going to want to wait until November 4 to play it anyway. Not only will you not be able to play it, but attempting to do so will disable your Xbox Live access.
Microsoft has issued a statement which explains that early Kinect game copies are indeed out there, but the necessary Xbox Live update to play them isn’t available yet. The Kinect game will prompt you to download an update, but doing so will then prompt you to download another update, which will fail, and without it you won’t be able to sign onto Live again. It’s unclear how permanent the failed update damage would be (or if such afflicted gamers would only have to wait for the official update on November 4 to fix it), but the point is if you somehow have a Kinect and a compatible game in your home right now – wait!!!

The Sly Collection is a single Blu-ray disc that includes all 3 of the original Sly Cooper games: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. All three games have been completely remastered to play back in widescreen HD and 3D.
But wait; there’s more! The PlayStation folks are also including a set of 4 custom minigames playable with the new PlayStation Move in full HD and 3D. They wanted to add a little more multiplayer fun to the Sly Collection and with the advent of the Move motion controller, they figured that this was the perfect opportunity.

Keiji Inafune, long-standing Capcom producer and the famed mind behind the studio’s most prolific character Mega Man, has announced his resignation from the company on his personal blog.
The post explains the reasons behind Inafune’s decision, that his departure takes effect at the end of the month, and rounds off on a difficult period for the producer as evidenced by a recent expression of unhappiness with his job.
Inafune most recently served as an executive producer on the zombie-bashing sequel Dead Rising 2, and was set to serve in the same role on Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry prequel, DmC.

Zombies, zombies everywhere! They’re coming from above you and below, they’re coming from all sides. So how are you supposed to fend off the increasing hordes as you progress through Dead Nation? Upgrades!
In Dead Nation’s action-packed levels, it’s crucial to collect as much cash as possible from both the undead hordes and trunks of vehicles. Once you find a Weapon Shop, you’ll be able to cash in your loot and purchase more ammo and, most importantly, weapon upgrades. Increasing the power and firing rate for your default Rifle can be the difference between life and undeath, especially since it’s your designated fallback weapon and the only gun with unlimited ammo. The SMG and shotgun also benefit enormously from power and firing rate, helping you annihilate dozens of ghouls at a time.

Interplay president Eric Caen has revealed that Bethesda was uninterested in purchasing the rights to a Fallout MMO from his studio. Speaking to Edge, the studio boss paints a picture of a tense history between the two companies, beginning with Bethesda’s purchase of the Fallout IP back in 2004.
“Hervé [Eric’s brother] started negotiations with Bethesda to sell Fallout to them. He said: ‘If you want the full IP, the value of it is $50 million,” Caen explains. “They said: ‘No way. Why $50 million?’ We said: ‘Because the MMOG strength of this universe is huge.’ Bethesda said: ‘Let’s buy everything else but the MMOG. Do the MMOG…I think Bethesda, off the back of Fallout 3’s success, realized that Hervé was probably right about the value.“
A lawsuit was filed by Bethesda against Interplay attempting to halt the company producing and distributing the Fallout Trilogy. The action was blocked in a US court, and Interplay responded with a counter suit.

A protracted development process and mounting costs have resulted in the five-years in development WarDevil project being canceled. The game’s developer, Ignition, was expected to close its London offices as a result, but the studio says that it is fighting on.
Develop reports that some thirty staff have been laid off due to the cancellation. It was originally believed that Ignition would look to outsource the project, an ambitious action game that would provide “Hollywood-grade” visuals at 60FPS, but that has not occurred. The group’s CEO, Vijay Chadha, has been absent for around three months with key staff unaware of his whereabouts.

Gamasutra reports that a native disc-free version of Netflix is coming to U.S. PlayStation 3s on October 18, nearly one year after the service originally arrived on Sony’s console. The introduction of the service next week puts PS3′s Netflix offering on par with that of the Xbox 360, which launched the service in 2008 with no disc requirement. The Nintendo Wii currently offers streaming Netflix that still requires a disc.
This updated disc-free PS3 version of Netflix will allow users to access streaming movies via the console’s XMB interface. The service will also support 5.1 channel surround sound on streamed movies and TV shows, a feature wholly unique to the PS3 version. Sony also said that the amount of time to start a video’s playback will be improved. The service costs as little as $9 a month to subscribe, which includes access to unlimited streaming videos and one DVD rental at a time.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauch tweeted that this latest delay for GT5 is “inexcusable” and explained that the game still has kinks which need ironing out.
Previously, the official Sony blog had also said the latest change in release date was down to last-minute polish. “We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.” Sony has promised that the game will be released worldwide during the holiday season.

Outerlight, the developer behind Bloody Good Time and The Ship, has lost its staff and premises within weeks of its latest release.
“Outerlight has all but been dissolved,” co-founder Chris Peck told Big Download. “The team and the office are gone, all that remains is myself working unpaid in the hope to recoup some royalties from the game. At the moment, the lifeline for the company is ongoing Ship sales, which have meant we can keep trading until we hopefully see some BGT royalties.”
Peck hopes that Bloody Good Time might yet earn enough royalties to put Outerlight back on its feet, and claims the studio remains a worthwhile investment prospect.

Southpeak Interactive has announced net losses of $5.8 million in its full-year financial results, which they partially attributabe to a settlement of its long-running dispute with CDV. CDV had blamed non-payment by Southpeak for its filing for insolvency in April, claiming to be owed $3.4 million.
GamesIndustry Biz reports that Southpeak CEO Melanie Mroz recently told investors, “I am pleased to report that we have successfully resolved our litigation with CDV and distribution dispute with Paradox. CDV in particular marked a substantial drain on our resources. Misguided media had a negative impact on our cost structure. We are pleased to put these matters behind us and continue to focus on our business and future growth.”
