Picture from Teammates have feelings, too

You know what I hate? Team-killing. Nothing aggravates me more than getting whacked by someone wearing my colors.

Last night, while playing Warhawk, I got team-killed so many times, I was convinced I had the words “F*** the red team” written across my forehead.Team-killing is bad for everything. It lowers the killer’s stats, and then it lowers your stats when you go and get revenge, which you will do.

There I was, standing on a bridge, converting it back to our color, when a Warhawk flies down and hovers next to me. I was alarmed at first, but I noticed the red name, and realized he was friendly…

Or was he? (dun dun duuuuuunnn)

Next thing I know, he’s trying to shove me off the cliff. I jumped on top of his ship and tried to get away, but he just flew forward and I fell to my death. I spent the next ten minutes finding him and killing him. Shortly after I got my kill, I was kicked from the game. Worth it.

The next game I joined was similar, in that it ended with me eating dirt after being stabbed in the back by a teammate. Literally.

I had just grabbed the enemy Flag, and was hauling ass back to my base. Halfway there, I noticed one of my teammates running behind me. I figured he was there to cover me, so I decided to run with him. The second he got within stabbing range, he killed me, tea-bagged my dead body and took the Flag. I couldn’t get to him before he scored my point.

Team-killing is only acceptable in two instances:

Revenge: If some douche bag on your team kills you for no reason, you have to get revenge. I don’t know why, but after getting team-killed, that’s the only thing on your mind.

A player is hurting your team: If someone steals the enemy’s Flag, but is just standing behind your base and not scoring, you should use the headset to politely ask him to score, because you are down by four points, and would like to try to catch up. If he resists, you have to kill him for the good of the team. I’m sure he’ll be pissed, but it’s not your fault he’s an idiot.

I’ve been playing the ET:QW demo lately, and I have to say that you would probably really, really, hate me. When I play the GDF, I tend to take on the role of Tech Ops. Part of being Tech Ops is calling in airstrikes and artillery, and I have a terrible record of killing friendlies who happen to be in the area of effect. It’s not intentional, but artillery like the Hammer rocket has a large blast radius, and while I kill three enemies and two of their placeables, I also end up taking out a friendly as well.

Then again, ET:QW has a system set up to automatically ban players who frag too many of their own team. The threshold is set by the server, but whenever someone is team-killed, the victim can log a complaint or forgive it. After X number of complaints, you’re banned. Do not pass go. Do not collect any more animosity of your teammates.

I’m guessing Warhawk doesn’t have such a mechanism?

(By the way, for those wondering, I’ve never been banned for team-killing in ET:QW. My teammates are understanding of my trigger happy behavior with artillery and airstrikes.)

I usually play on sniper servers. When people TK me, I just push them out from their cover into the enemy’s line of sight. It’s quite fun, actually.

I feel your pain, Jason. I did the same in Wolf: ET (and would do it in ET:QW if I could run it). I’ve been kicked a few times, mostly by idiots who ran into my SMOKING AIRSTRIKE MARKERS.
