I hadn't heard that OPM was going away, but it's a shame because it was always one of the better gaming publications. In reality, there's really no reason for the print versions of most of these industry magazines any longer. When all of the same articles and information is available in free, or paid subscription, formats on the official websites, why pay $20 a year for a paper copy? Losing all these publications that have been in print for so long is a shame, but inevitable.

The internet has produced a lot of casualties and print publications are one of the hardest hit. It is a shame to see OPM ceasing publication. I have not been a fan of PC Gamer for many many years since they reviewed Outpost and bashed Deadly Dozen 2. Basing a review by bashing the first game is not a good way to do a review.
To be honest though the only real gaming publication I miss is Amiga Power. I use to have my wife read the reviews and articles to me when we would go on long road trips.

i gave up on pc gamer when they changed the format (several years ago) to have more advertising pages then content. (I counted)
i think about starting it back up but at this point I am more focused on indie (kickstarter/drm free) games more so than "blockbuster" titles that PC gamer use to cover... again its been several years, any one know different?

Internet killed the publishing star. A shame, really, because the amount of truly in-depth coverage of..well, <i>everything</i> is actually declining somewhat. Almost nobody will pay a subscription to an online publication..they'd rather have so-so news and reviews for free.
