Oh, and the phrase "open world" counts for a LOT with me, and I failed to point out that's part of my gripe: if their going to the trouble of crafting a large world, probably with strong lore and (from the sound of it) minimal limitations for a game of this type, why not go all they way? Why not give Bethesda some competition? That's all I'm saying. But I can see why they didn't, because an MMO is nearly always more profitable and the leap from a "full" RPG to a (neccesarily) limited online experience would be jarring. I guess I'm annoyed with how any franchise that goes MMO never goes back. I hear talk of Elder Scrolls Online and I die a little inside. If they can get you subscribing the developer has no motivation to create an offline experience anymore (unless its a simple smartphone game).

Heck, I enjoyed Dungeon Siege way back in the day, although I burn out on games like that fairly quickly..have to take it in chunks, which doesn't lend itself to net play. If any of my friends try it and like it I'll probably check it out.

Sorry it's not you're style of game, psycros. It's a fun game that in the hands of a specific kind of gamer is a very enjoyable experience.

I won't defend it as a "genuine RPG" or even go into the subsequent MMO. What I will say is that its combat is getting a lot of high praise. If they can carry that over to the MMO that will be at least one good thing to say about it.

Agree 1000% with Ian! What is it with these absolutely forgettable game titles, with the inevitable secondary name? Its like they think that gluing a pair of bland titles together with a colon makes for great marketing. Ugh. But above and beyond that - you have Salvatore, McFarlan and Rolston working together, and you go for an action RPG? Really?? Oh, wait, I forgot - their making an MMO follow-up. Wouldn't want to humiliate the latest WoW clone by releasing it on the heels of a real RPG, right?

I honestly didn't know this game was anything special until just recently. It might as well be titled "Hero of Importance: Generic title"
