TuneUp Utilities 2009

Picture from Top Utilities for PC Gamers 2008Due to the ever-escalating system requirements of the latest releases, gamers demand that their rigs be maintained with maximum speed and reliability for optimal performance. TuneUp Software’s TuneUp Utilities 2009 is the best of everything available for this purpose. All of its modules can be manually started from a common interface, with the opening screen telling you the overall status of your computer. Plus, an automated optimization system is available. All operations performed on the operating system are completely safe because all changes are monitored by TuneUp Rescue Center and can be undone at any time.

The six categories of functions are increasing performance (including excellent hard disk defragmentation and startup management), freeing up disk space (including a faster and more flexible visual disk space explorer), cleaning up Windows (including one-click maintenance and a newly revised uninstall manager), solving problems (including an effective disk doctor), customizing Windows and additional tools (including a process manager, a registry editor, a shredder and a system information provider). The individual modules have been perfected to the extent that several rival the best stand-alone programs for each of these tasks. Even if you have a super-powerful computer, you can’t afford to be without this utility.

ObjectDock Plus

Gamers often want instant access to their favorite games and applications, yet have so many on their computers at one time that immediately running what you want can become complicated. Rather than having a bunch of icons scattered on the desktop or relying on the poorly-organized Start Menu, Stardock’s is a program that gives you more control over how you organize your desktop through the ability to create application docks exhibiting far more versatility than the often-praised standard Macintosh dock or other programs of this type.

ObjectDock is designed to be as flexible as possible to enable users to drag and drop their programs and documents onto it and to customize completely its appearance and screen placement. You may even replace the Start Bar, entirely freeing up valuable screen real-estate. ObjectDock also supports “docklets,” special docked mini-applications, including the weather, email status, network traffic, WiFi connection strength, CPU usage, memory usage, clock, calendar, music playing, replacement recycle bin and computer shutdown. Tabbed docks are available and are especially useful when multiple docks are present on the desktop. You may download ObjectDock for free (without nag screens) or pay for ObjectDock Plus, which adds more features.
