Nintendo’s 3DS price drop will most likely affect the launch of Sony’s PlayStation Vita, as it will now cost $80 more than the Nintendo device.
But if you were thinking that this will herald a lower price point for the Sony handheld, think again. Shack News reports that while Sony will have to carefully coordinate Vita’s marketing, at least one analyst believes the 3DS price drop won’t affect Vita’s launch sales.
“I am not sure whether Sony will find it necessary to lower the Vita price,” RW Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said. Citing as one of his reasons was the current state of the 3DS library. Sebastian notes that, “if game publishers had been able to make really compelling content for the 3DS with appeal to millions of gamers, then the story might have played out differently.”
