Picture from Avault comments now support avatars

Avault supports global avatars (gravatars) in the comment section of the site. Gravatar is an acronym for Globally Recognized Avatar, a small image (also known as an avatar) that appears by your posted comments on websites that support the open format.

To add a picture or image by your Avault comments head on over to gravatar.com and follow the simple sign-up instructions.

When posting a comment on Avault include the email address used to setup your free gravatar account and the avatar you uploaded will automatically appear by your comment.

Note: Avault will only display avatars that are rated G or PG.

This is a great idea!

Nox | May 1st, 2009 at 7:49 PM Permalink to this Comment

Agreed. Gravatar is a mighty convenient utility and I’m delighted that the team at Avault have chosen to integrate it with their site.

This place’s classiness just went up another notch.

EDIT:
But it works even better when you remember the e-mail address that you used at sign-up!

Hi Nox. Thanks for the nice comments. Note that one of the cool features of gravatar is that you can add multiple emails to your gravatar account. You can also upload more than one image, but can only use one of them at a time.

Clearly, I am inept at comment-posting. Angel, feel free to remove all of these posts since I am a failure.

I mean, I was voted ‘Most likely to drown in three feet of oatmeal” back in high school, y’know.

Nox | May 1st, 2009 at 8:04 PM Permalink to this Comment

How fantastic is it that you provided the solution for my ineptitude just as I was apologizing for it?

I will hop on over to gravatar and add those other e-mail addresses. Thanks for the tip!

No worries I realized that you had made a mistake and deleted the other posts. :)

It’s about time someone thought of this!

IS THIS THING ON?

Angus McFeargus | September 5th, 2009 at 12:09 AM Permalink to this Comment

Mine doesn’t seem to work. *weep*

Angel Munoz | September 6th, 2009 at 2:01 AM Permalink to this Comment

Hi Angus: You need to make sure that the email you use to post comments, matches the one you used to setup your gravatar account. You can enter multiple email accounts at gravatar by the way.

Angus McFeargus | September 9th, 2009 at 12:11 AM Permalink to this Comment

Checked, double-checked, and triple-checked, but I only use the one email address, and it isn’t working. Gravatar hates me. Or Avault hates me. Or both.

OH WAIT! It’s Chip’s fault!

Angel Munoz | November 24th, 2009 at 11:50 PM Permalink to this Comment

Angus what rating did you give your Avatar? If you used anything above PG it will not display on our site.

Jason Iatomasi | November 25th, 2009 at 8:52 AM Permalink to this Comment

Did it work?*

*That was my original comment, but instead of posting it, it told me that it was too short, and that I should try posting something useful. I won’t be posting anything useful, out of spite.

At last faces to the commentators!

Bill | November 25th, 2009 at 7:30 PM Permalink to this Comment

hi, my face is here.

Angus McFeargus | November 30th, 2009 at 1:18 PM Permalink to this Comment

MY FACE IS NOT.

Angus McFeargus | November 30th, 2009 at 1:20 PM Permalink to this Comment

Changed my rating to G, still doesn’t work. Tried another image, still doesn’t work. I’m back to my “The Internet hates me” theory.

Angus McFeargus | November 30th, 2009 at 1:20 PM Permalink to this Comment

OH! SO NOW IT WORKS!

Stupid bi-polar Internet.

Angel Munoz | November 30th, 2009 at 1:25 PM Permalink to this Comment

Angus – I still can’t see your avatar.

Michele White | November 30th, 2009 at 1:38 PM Permalink to this Comment

@ Angus – I can see it – I can’t tell what it is, but I see some kind of creepy Black and White creature.

Angel Munoz | November 30th, 2009 at 2:00 PM Permalink to this Comment

Oh I can see it now. Had to clear the browser’s cache. What the heck is that creature??

Angus McFeargus | November 30th, 2009 at 4:09 PM Permalink to this Comment

It’s the Avault ManCat mascot. Where have you guys been!?!?! ;)

There once was a version of it integrated with the Avault logo, but I think it must have died with a prior version of the forums.

Alaric | November 30th, 2009 at 5:46 PM Permalink to this Comment

ManCat has been with Avault since like 1998.

Angel Munoz | November 30th, 2009 at 6:50 PM Permalink to this Comment

You guys have to be kidding. I’ve never heard of the Avault ManCat before. I’ll need to consult David Laprad.

Chip | December 1st, 2009 at 10:24 AM Permalink to this Comment

OMG Angel. You have to be kidding. Mancat has been the official/unofficial mascot for a dogs age.

No, the one with the Avault logo went when GNNR left and moved his website to a new addy.

kyleh | December 1st, 2009 at 11:02 AM Permalink to this Comment

ManCat has been keeping the Vault Dwellers safe for a very long time indeed.

Angel Munoz | December 1st, 2009 at 12:26 PM Permalink to this Comment

Well that must have happened in the depths of the vault, I don’t recall it. I do recall my son being the first Avault mascot.

Alaric | December 1st, 2009 at 2:06 PM Permalink to this Comment

What?! ManCat is your son?!

Angel Munoz | December 1st, 2009 at 3:11 PM Permalink to this Comment

Not quite, Alaric. :)
