Picture from Bethesda the latest victim of hacking epidemic

According to Gamespot, hacking group Lulz Security (aka LulzSec) breached Bethesda Softworks’ security on Monday. They acquired information from about 200,000 Brink players, but weren’t content to stop there. Yesterday, LulzSec launched denial of service attacks on a wide range of sites (including the Escapist), and brought down the Eve Online login servers.

They also brought down League of Legends site and servers, as well as those of Minecraft. Additionally they rerouted all calls to their so called “requests phone” to World of Warcraft customer support line, giving them an additional 5 to 20 calls per second. Some interpret this as a precursor to an attack on WoW itself.

These people are scum. Just like Anonymous, but without even so much as pretensions to any kind of “higher cause.” Just scum, plain and simple.

They also brought down the CIA website. Yeah, how smart is that?

They brought down EVE? Whew, for a moment there I was afraid that a lot of people would be affected. Wait, they hit Minecraft too?? Oh noes!
