Capcom, publisher of Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D, has denied that discouraging secondhand sales of their recently released 3DS game was not their goal when they included a feature that permanently saves a player’s progress directly onto the cartridge. A company representative was quoted by Gamasutra as saying ”the nature of the game invites high levels of replayability in order to improve mission scores. Secondhand game sales were not a factor in this development decision.” Mercenaries joins Super Monkey Ball 3D on the list of 3DS games that do not allow saved games to be deleted.
