Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima, sees a future for digital entertainment outside the box. He believes that the future of video gaming instead lies in networks that will free players from the shackles of their consoles.
“In the near future, we’ll have games that don’t depend on any platform,” Kojima said at a news conference. “Gamers should be able to take the experience with them in their living rooms, on the go, when they travel — wherever they are and whenever they want to play. It should be the same software and the same experience,” he said.
Kojima said he hoped the release of his new game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, on Sony’s PSP device would give his development team a sense of what works in portable gaming in preparation for his vision of gaming on demand over the Internet.
