Many fans of Diablo III were angered recently when Blizzard community manager Bashiok (aka Micah Whipple) tweeted that the upcoming game wouldn’t have public chat channels. However, in a shock twist, Bashiok was actually wrong. Public chat channels will be in Diablo III. Not only that, but they will also be included in an “upcoming beta patch.” Bashiok has since taken to the game’s official forums, apologizing for his original misinformation and setting the record straight.
“You know how sometimes you say something that’s stupid and wrong and then people very reasonably get upset and create a lot of threads and discussions and demands with some pretty reasonable reasons for the thing you said wouldn’t happen but then it turns out that you’re stupid and wrong and the things you said are completely the opposite of what’s actually true?,” said Bashiok. “Yeah. So that happened. Public chat channels will be in Diablo III, barring any catastrophe that requires we remove them, because they’re already implemented. In fact they’ll be in an upcoming beta patch so you’ll get to see and play around with them yourselves.”
Bashiok was unable to offer any explanation for his previous incorrect statements, except that “I believed them to be correct when I made them. I apologize, and I’ll strive to not be stupid and wrong in the future.” Looks like a happy ending for the game’s fans after all!

The more i See of this game, and the more they strip it down for consoles, the less appealing it is to me. I fear by the time it ships the only thing really worth getting out of it will be the cinematics, and those will be all over Youtube etc in spades.. Sad really ..
@Vapus: couldn’t agree more. This impending bag of fail could well be Blizzard’s swan song. Certainly “Titan” isn’t going to save them – we already know that its going to be a world completely ridden with product placement. That will go over really well if its not a modern day setting (which Bliz hasn’t done yet). This is truly a company drunk on its own hubris, and when they fall its going to happen fast and hard.
@Psycros Indeed ! Titan will change nothing imo . Let us ALL not forget so very many of the people who made blizzard games gone by, are no longer with the company.. yes long term elements remain, but they are all very much whores to units sold {rather, projected units sold} these days methinks..
