Tech-obsessed PC users who need quantitative feedback about the performance of their rigs will be pleased to hear that diagnostics designer Futuremark is preparing to release 3DMark 11, their first new benchmarking tool since 3DMark Vantage, which was designed specifically for Windows Vista-based PCs. Futuremark, which recently dipped its toes in the game-development pond with Shattered Horizon, has created its new application to measure the graphics prowess of Windows 7 rigs equipped with DirectX 11-compatible video cards. The company has created a tech demo entitled Deep Sea to showcase the capabilities of its new application. A basic, free version of 3DMark 11 will be available for download from Futuremark’s website in the fall of 2010.
