Kotaku reports that EA is closing its Chicago studio, where a group of almost 150 employees were working on a Marvel fighting game, and where development on the Def Jam franchise took place. An unnamed source leaked an internal EA memo to Kotaku, revealing that EA Games president Frank Gibeau made the decision after weighing the increasing costs of running the studio with the low revenues from its games. As employers often do in these cases, EA is offering relocation opportunities, outplacement assistance and severance for eligible employees, though that will be little consolation to those who worked in Chicago and made their home there.
