Picture from Fallout: New Vegas teaserFallout: New Vegas, the next chapter in the Fallout franchise, will be available in the fall. The game is currently in development at Obsidian Entertainment for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows. New Vegas aims to take all of the action, humor, and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this series, and raise the stakes. This video is our first real glimpse into what lies ahead.

So is this a new game / new engine, etc., or another expansion to Fallout 3?

It is supposed to be a new game, set in the same universe, but not a sequel to Fallout 3.
