Picture from Fatal Frame producer to announce new title

1Up reports that while Fatal Frame, Tecmo’s Japan-styled horror adventure series hasn’t been seen in America for half a decade, it might be making a comeback.

I can’t discuss exact details yet, but we are working hard on something right now,” said series producer Keisuke Kikuchi. “I think we’ll be able to make an announcement soon, so I hope people look forward to it.”

First released on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in 2002, the Fatal Frame series features survival-horror action that focuses on Japanese occult themes. The most recent title, Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, was launched for the Wii in 2008, but failed to receive an official overseas release. Nintendo showed media from a new Fatal Frame title back at September 2010 conference in Japan, but no further information has come out on the series since then.
