According to Dean Takahashi, industry leaders Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia, and AMD are joining forces for the power of good. Dubbing themselves “The PC Gaming Alliance,” these industry leaders are looking to correct the problems that keep the PC from being the current gaming platform of choice. First up: hardware compatibility and performance issues. It seems that, like the villain of any horror movie franchise, PC gaming is declared officially dead every few months or so. With such notable names taking action however, it might be time to start writing “SAVE PC GAMING!” on your trapper keepers.
Over at Next Generation, the producer of Dynasty Warriors 6 defends his game against its many, many critics here in the West. While some of the comments regarding the “subtlety” of the game’s improvements are hard to swallow even for a Dynasty Warriors fan, you have to appreciate the pressure KOEI must work under when both your fans and your detractors are equally rabid. Now if they’d only figure out that modern consoles have Internet connections and four controllers…
Someday you’ll be telling your children of a magical time when there used to be competing football video games, since EA just re-signed the NFL to another exclusive deal that expires in 2013. Sadly, this means your dreams of playing NFL2K10 will never come to pass. The timing is somewhat unfortunate. Thanks to a recent admission that it screwed up Bullfrog and Origin back in the day, EA was just starting to appear not-so-evil. Now, it seems entirely possible that someday they’ll just pay the NFL to adopt the name “John Madden Football.”
