Picture from Theres a good chance youve played Angry Birds Rovio, the undisputed king of smartphone gaming, has released a video today making a pretty impressive announcement. Angry Birds, a game featuring birds, pigs, and revenge, has been downloaded 500 million times. That’s 500,000,000. Half a billion. The video features some staggering numbers about the franchise, including the total amount of play time, which is hovering at around 200,000 years.

Albert, I have to admit, I’ve put quite a few hours into the game. I haven’t played that many casual iOS games that are as polished, but those 500,000 million players are missing out if Angry Birds is their main iOS game.

I tried Angry Birds a couple months ago finally. I didn’t get it at all. The physics were non-intuitive to say the least and the game was just..not enough for me. Many levels seemed to require sheer luck to beat. I’m not a big fan of games like this but Peggle was far more engrossing.

my sentiment exactly. for brainless fun, i go outside and sweat it out. at least it’s good for my body.
