Picture from iPad launch fails to convince buyers

A follow-up Retrevo Pulse study looking at consumer interest in buying the new Apple iPad indicates a failure to convince any new buyers to consider the iPad. Not only did Apple fail to convince new buyers, it may have lost many potential buyers who now say they don t think they need an Apple tablet computer.

Before Jan 20th, only 26% of people said they were not interested in buying an Apple tablet. That number jumped to 52% after the launch announcement. Before Jan 20th, 49% of people said they didn’t think they needed an Apple Tablet, and that number jumped to 61% afterwards.

Well, it didn’t have even half the things it was rumored to have and my little $200 netbook does everything that the ipad can do only better. It can’t do games like the ipad can, but that is why I have an iphone.

I have no need for the ipad but look forward to the third generation, maybe even the second.

The only thing that I hope happens from this deal is that we get an itunes bookstore like they do with audiobooks and podcasts. But then again, I don’t think they will do it.

I am not surprised by that at all. Like I said on the podcast, Apple has finally jumped the shark with this one. Maybe 4 or 5 years from now we’ll look back and think this was a great idea as we read our interactive magazines and newspapers, video chat with friends on the run, and watch HD videos on our gorgeous tablet screens at bus stops but intentionally leaving obvious hardware out is ridiculous. Apple has done it too many times and I think this is the final straw.

I don’t quite get how you would want to be an early adopter of this knowing that future iterations will be that much better and have all the things that really should be in it. Maybe those people are looking to spend some cash on a Kindle anyways and want it to have some web capability. I think the Kindle is the only comparison that can be made where the iPad actually wins….except in price.

The iPad is more than a big iPod touch, I don’t know what anyone else says, I’m excited!

Thanks for your post, I will try and use it as inspiration on my blog.

I just was notified that my iPad is being shipped from China. I’ll inform everyone what I think once I receive it.
