Picture from Microsoft worried, users delay adopting IE 8

According to Aodhan Cullen, StatCounter CEO, users are adopting the new Internet Explorer, version 8, rather slowly and cautiously – “underwhelming” would be the word Mr. Cullen used to describe the event. In contrast, last June, Firefox 3 more than doubled user ship when debuted. In the eyes of the industry and the layman, it seems that Microsoft is hurting to properly push their wares.

IE 8 has been under fire from several camps for reasons ranging from system crashes to improper website loading. Also, based on the Web Standards Project Acid Test 3, the new version of IE may not necessarily adhere to such web standards as CSS and HTML4.

Let’s hope Microsoft can address these issues, since IE is paramount to retaining their internet market share and dominance.

I tried it out, but find it to be unbearably slow if you leave the new features on. Every time you open a tab it hangs for a while before proceeding, which is very very annoying.
