Picture from Modern Warfare 2 hack attacks your XP?

While many Modern Warfare 2 players still debate which is the game’s greatest weapon, some hackers seem to have settled it amongst themselves. A glitch has been “created” that hurtles your opponent back in time all the way to being a classless Private. The creators of said glitch have found a way to augment the amount of experience rewarded for killing them. Instead of the usual 50- or 100-point increments, these dubious players can punish their murderers with negative five million points, dropping their hard-earned rank back to level 1. This tragedy has so far only been reported on Xbox Live, but please do keep us posted if you see or hear of it elsewhere, as Infinity Ward has yet to comment. While tragic, I can’t say that I’ve NEVER encountered the occasional obnoxious tweener that was perhaps deserving of such a fate. You?

Hacks like this are what ruin games.  It is discouraging to realize what may take a gamer days to accomplish can be lost in a matter of seconds.  Not too mention previous Modern Warfare 2 hacks, which have allowed gamers to take full advantage of the leaderboards.  It is upsetting to have to scroll through hundreds of hacked scores to finally find the legitimate gamers.  Hopefully these hacks are quickly fixed, because these sort of problems can quickly deter people from playing a game.
