A state district court in Dallas has added attorneys’ fees to last week’s jury verdict in favor of casual video game developer MumboJumbo against rival PopCap. The initial award was for $4.6 million in damages after PopCap was found liable for fraud, tortious interference and breach of contract with regard to a distribution deal between the two companies. Following a new hearing, however, PopCap was ordered to pay an additional $2.7 million in attorneys’ fees.
PopCap is of course appealing the verdict, and issued the following statement. “PopCap continues to believe that it did nothing wrong in this case, and will vigorously pursue its claims and defend itself through the appeals process.”
