On April 5 players will be able to download Bass for 200 Wii points. Dr. Wily designed Bass with Mega Man’s abilities in mind, and while a bitter rivalry exists between the two, Bass will help Mega Man out if there’s something in it for him.
Bass uses a weapon called the Bass Buster, which is a lot like the Mega Buster except that it fires faster and can fire upwards and diagonally (7 directions in all), and it can also be used to shoot-down enemy attacks. In addition to the Buster, Bass uses dash to avoid enemy advances, and he can copy the weapons of the bosses in the game after defeating them, just like Mega Man can. When he teams up with his robotic canine pal Treble, he can not only fly, but shoot more powerful projectiles with his Buster.

(click to play the video)Platinum Games’ previous effort, Bayonetta, received rave reviews and Vanquish looks certain to follow that trend with what was quite an awesome announcement trailer. It is well worth checking out if you haven’t already. The game is described as a fast-paced sci-fi action title where you have to take down robotic enemies. It has been confirmed for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and here’s hoping that this time around the game is just as good on both consoles. This could be another fantastic thrill ride from director Shinji Mikami.

Get ready to geek out with a new Halo: Reach multiplayer video |

(click to play the video)It all started with a message over at Bungie about “a new MP bomb.” Quick-thinkers connected the dots and realized that a new multiplayer announcement of sorts would be released. After much waiting and anticipation, the video of what Halo: Reach will look like on the harsh online playing-fields is now out for all to see.
At first glance, it doesn’t look all that different from Halo 3. Upon closer inspection, however, the gameplay looks a lot smoother and the animation has been amped-up. Oh, and I think the jet-packs may bring in an interesting battle dynamic.

King Graham murdered by Activision |

The Silver Lining, a fan-made sequel to Sierra’s classic King’s Quest saga, has been shut down by Activision/Blizzard, the new owners of the IP. There was a similar setback in 2005, when Vivendi Universal sent a Cease & Desist letter to the developers. At that time, however, thousands of people petitioned Vivendi to grant a fan-license to the game, and after a while the company agreed. The game was not allowed to call itself King’s Quest anymore, but the development was permitted to go on. It took the team a while to recover from the loss, but as of late it looked like the first episode was about to be released.
Meanwhile, Activision/Blizzard came to own the rights to King’s Quest. Instead of allowing development to continue, they decided that the project was to be killed. Not only did they force The Silver Lining’s site to be taken down along with all artwork, information, and the demo, they also insisted that all of the forums be taken down as well. Nearly ten years of discussions (some non KQ-related) are now gone.
Good-bye King Graham. Who would have known that one of the most beloved gaming characters of all time would end his life on the tip of some corporate suit’s pen?
