The Japanese video-game market is dominated by handhelds and the Wii. This assertion is borne out by the recently released sales figures for games sold in Japan. Nintendo has a stranglehold on the Land of the Rising Sun, with Pokemon White/Black and New Super Mario Bros Wii holding comfortable leads in units sold in 2010. Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 is Sony’s highest-ranking game, and is the company’s only offering to crack the Top 10. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP comes in at number 11. Microsoft failed to place a single game in the Top 30, and there isn’t a PC game to be found anywhere on the list.
