GDC recap on Stevie FTW

Picture from GDC recap on Stevie FTW

Stevie is back from GDC with all the goods on the parties. Google wins with Mark Farina, as Playboy’s party is practically boob-less. Dan also digs deep into what the hubbub with HTML5 and gaming is, and your cohorts in crime take a look at the extended lifecycle of Call of Duty 2 as they speculate on what Activision’s monetization plans are. Dan’s got the quote of the week, and both rock hard and heavy with the Alk3 in the music corner. All this and more on Episode #36 of Stevie FTW!

All hail the return of the Queen! Stevie returns for Episode #34 of Stevie FTW! This week, your alpine-fresh co-hosts are back together again to sling fresh meat at the maw of the game-o-sphere. Dan is salivating over the newly kind-of-announced Mac Book Pros, while Stevie is prepping for yet another epic Game Developers Conference in her hometown. The kids also geek out about music made for hard livin’, and talk Legos, layoffs, and Tiger Woods. All this and more this week on Stevie FTW!

Due to poor net connections, Dan does it solo one more time for Episode #33 of Stevie FTW. This episode is straight out of the Alps, as Dan talks Raptr, Verizon and Lucent at the Mobile World Congress, Zynga’s valuation of $7 – 9 billion (and a possible IPO?), his appearance in a Macy Gray video (we want video), Apres Ski, and rounds it all out with a touch of good ol’ fashioned Monopoly. All this and more on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #31 with Dan...

This week on Episode #31 of Stevie FTW, Dan goes solo as Stevie is, “Busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger.” While Stevie hammers out those high level business deals, Dan takes time out of his skiing expedition to bring you his view of the tech life. On his first solo show, Dan talks WoW, Gran Turismo, beer and board games, PlayStation Move servers, and sheep on fire (something you will definitely want to take notes on). He also dishes on some of the cool things Sony and Microsoft are doing together, even if they don’t quite realize it yet. All this and more each and every Friday on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #30 – Theyre back!!!

Following a month-long holiday hiatus (Internet connections are hard to come by in Tahiti), Stevie and Dan are back and ready to share their view of the tech side of life! After sharing tales from Case’s Island, your Stevie FTW hosts settle back in with gaming conference season revelations. There’s also some Tron nostalgia to be found, and they didn’t leave out the games. Minecraft gets the Zero Punctuation treatment, Dan finally got into Assassin’s Creed II, and Oregon Trail is coming to Facebook! Sadly, you have died of dysentery. To find out what that means, check out Stevie FTW this and every Friday!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #29

Stevie’s on her way to Tahiti, but before she left, she and Dan managed to squeeze in one more episode of the Stevie FTW podcast before the new year. This week, Stevie raves about her experiences with Kinect, much to the chagrin of Dan, the resident Sony fanboy. Dan prompts a lively discussion of the movie The Social Network and its subject, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg. Our hosts talk about iTunes’ domination of the online music business, and reminisce about 1980’s chart-topping Star Wars holiday album, Christmas in the Stars. And circling back to Facebook, they discuss the newest Zynga success, Cityville. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from the gang at Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #28

This week on Episode #28 of Stevie FTW, Stevie and Dan discuss their winter gaming habits (apparently Vienna is the unknown gaming capital of the world). Your Christmas-wishin’ co-hosts are reveling in holiday decorations, bad 70s horn music, and smooth Xmas jazz. Stevie has big plans for her upcoming trip to the South Pacific, while Dan brings home some reactions to Gran Turismo 5 and of course WoW: Cataclysm. Apparently the holidays are the perfect time to turn down a $6 billion offer, but our co-hosts are not so sure. All that and more this week on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #27 talks turkey

This week on Episode #28 of Stevie FTW, your tryptophan-swilling co-hosts are down to get their turkey on! Stevie swoops in with some pointers for some of the best recipes out there, while Dan reveals that the holidays are for “less thinkin’, more drinkin’.” There’s some mad audio geekery involved in Dan’s Phish obsession, and Stevie brings a new, less depressing band with entertaining accents into the pod-light. In other news, EVE Online introduces microtransactions, and Call of Duty: Black Ops ROCKS!!!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #26 shoots 4 free

This week on Episode #26 of Stevie FTW, Stevie and Dan explore breaking into the Asian markets, and discuss much of the forthcoming “play-for-free” shooter goodness. There’s also another of what appears to be becoming the weekly music segment, Kinect hacks, and the less than stellar Windows Phone 7 launch (Stevie wishes Microsoft could become one of the cool kids). All that and more this week on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #25 Kinects poker and politics

This week on Stevie FTW, your co-hosts must, of course, delve into the results of the 2010 elections, but the big news right now is how the world is beginning to Kinect, and why the Supreme Court justices are discussing laws that attempt to make up for lazy parenting. Stevie and Dan also both have new music to share and as per usual, Dan cannot help but swim with the Phish. What is really going on at Zynga? Staying with the running legal theme, Dan makes a case for Zynga Poker (the company’s first Android app). All that and more this week on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #24 Return of the Killcreek

This week on Stevie FTW, your co-hosts return to talk about the glory of conference season! Stevie’s fresh from multiple conferences in a row, including GDC Austin and Digital Hollywood. GDC brought some good news about Lord of the Rings Online, their new free-to-play model, and how many fresh bodies they’ve acquired. There’s also some Windows Phone 7 chat (not to be confused with sexy chat), but you can’t have an episode of FTW without some geekery, and this week it’s of the music variety. Stevie and Dan also delve into the INSANE multiplier behind DeNA’s acquisition of ngmoco. All that and more this week on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #23 the Hospital Ward edition

This week on Stevie FTW, your co-hosts fight the urge to hack up their lungs (last week’s sniffles have staged a full assault – lose the hand sanitizer), while dishing on the latest tablets, as well as the rumored Facebook (f)Phone. GDC Online is coming up next week in Austin, and Stevie’s prepping to give the opening remarks at the Monetization 2.0 Forum. In gaming, Stevie’s finally making progress in LOTRO while Dan goes on a major WoW rant. Find out why Dan calls Stevie the “weekend special edition” and more this and every Friday on Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW Episode #22 on The Social Network

This week on Stevie FTW, your co-hosts mange to fight off the twin afflictions of the sniffles and a hardcore WoW addiction to bring you their view of the Tech Life. Stevie’s fresh off the plane from a daytrip to Seattle, while Dan is swimming in an ocean of TV goodness. Did you notice any problems getting into Facebook recently? The duo talks about the great social network’s outage, and its quirky founder whose young life will soon be portrayed on the big screen. Stevie and Dan are both trying out new games this week, with Stevie giving LOTRO a go and Dan trying his hand at Zen Pinball. Tune in this and every Friday to Stevie FTW!

Picture from Stevie FTW returns with Episode #21

This week on Stevie FTW, your globetrotting co-hosts return to the lands of rice-a-roni and Weiner schnitzel, respectively. Stevie’s fresh off trips to Gamescom in Germany and Burning Man in the Nevada desert (where she angrily suggests that you get a blinky light if you’re gonna walk around in the dark), while Dan returns from scooter-crashing in Greece.

With so much to catch up on, Dan and Stevie dive right into the world of Farmvillians. Just how evil are they? Dan also shares his take on iOS4 and much more in this show dedicated to Brian Wood, Lead Game Designer at Relic on Company of Heroes Online, who passed away this week far too young. Listen in to Stevie FTW now, and every Friday!

Picture from On the couch with Stevie FTW (Episode #20)

The Internet has finally arrived, so no more lurking in parking lots, and Stevie comes to you this week from the comfort of her personal studio. In episode #20 your social gaming co-hosts get lost in Japan with Zynga after taking a wander through patent-ville. And…do real Americans still really not use the Internet? You certainly wouldn’t know it from the money that gaming has been contributing to the US economy over the past decade. All that plus a birthday tribute to our favorite Dancing Star, Woz! Listen in to stay tuned to and on top of tech every Wednesday on Stevie FTW!
