Picture from Universal plans Wanted video game

Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group (phew…) is creating a video game based on Universal Pictures’ action-thriller, Wanted, starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will publish the game worldwide. GRIN, best known for its work on the Tom Clancy: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series and the upcoming Bionic Commando, is handling development. The film, which was released on June 27, has earned 192 million dollars in worldwide box office to date.

Based on Mark Millar’s series of graphic novel and helmed by visualist director Timur Bekmambetov, Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation as he’s introduced to a new life and new powers he never knew existed. The Wanted video game will feature intense third-person action involving new iconic moves — such as curving bullets and Assassin Time — drawn from the film, as well as an innovative cover mechanic. The storyline of the game will pick up where the movie leaves off, providing fans with another chapter to explore.

The Wanted game, in development since early 2007, will be available later this year for consoles and the PC. For more information on the film, visit www.wantedmovie.com.
