Picture from Valve enters Blizzard

It seems Valve is continuing its habit of turning mods into standalone games, and Defense of the Ancients appears to be the next such project. Where did this rumor originate? From a certain Mr. John St. John who posted on his Twitter profile that he has successfully finished his voice recording for the DotA game at Valve Software. Unfamiliar with his name? You shouldn’t be. John St. John is the person that voiced the famous Duke Nukem!

Defense of the Ancients is a custom scenario for Blizzard’s real-time strategy titles WarCraft 3 and WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne that is based on a Aeon of Strife map from StarCraft. The objective on each DotA map is to destroy the opponent’s buildings on the opposite side of the map. In order to destroy these buildings, players employ powerful units called heroes and AI controlled fighters. DotA also features RPG elements, so you need to level up your character and collect gold to purchase better equipment.
