Picture from Who’s afraid of the big, black bat?Warner Bros. has announced that a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum is currently in development with Rocksteady Studios. The trailer shows Arkham Asylum built on a bigger scale, some looting and rioting in the streets, some kind of carnival theme and an appearance by the Joker.

Martin Tremblay, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment said “We are thrilled to build a global game franchise from Batman: Arkham Asylum, which is receiving an incredible response from gamers and Batman fans around the world.” He also added that “Rocksteady has taken Batman to a new level in the video game space and we are committed to delivering a sequel the fans will love.”

Sefton Hill, Rocksteady Studios Game Director, admitted that, “Getting the opportunity to create Batman: Arkham Asylum and seeing its success has been a dream come true for the team. We are honored to create the next chapter in this compelling story and promise to deliver another game worthy of the Dark Knight.”

Given the originality of the first game, do you think Rocksteady can produce another hit?

Treason! The resident fall guy is escaping!

What’s going on Chip? Why would you leave? You are not dying are you? Or joining a cult? Or maybe you are mad at Bob? Was he mean to you? I’ll photoshop his pictures until he can’t show his face on the Internet for a year!

In one little comment thread I find myself saddened, confused, and insulted all at once.

Aw, sorry about the insulted part, you know I love you – we just need to give your name some flash…maybe hire a “handler” and a publicist to rework your image if you’re going to assume Chip’s shoes. ;)

lol… I’m not going anywhere (and I do feel loved all the sudden). I have modded at the Eidos forums since before the release of Battlestations: Midway. Batman had also been one of the sectioned I moderate and I was hoping to be able to do the sequel but I guess it is not meant to be.

Angus, what she means to say with the whole reworking of image bit, is that you are pretty lame.

I have a very clever comeback but I’ll never get to use it because I didn’t get the email notification that anyone posted on this thread.
