CD Projekt RED has released Patch 1.1 for The Witcher 2, which brings important improvements to the game. The most noticeable of these is the removal of its DRM protection. This gives players the freedom to install and play the game on any number of computers, and no activation code is required. Other notable improvements include frame rate increases of up to 30%, better stability, and non-problematic installation of free DLCs (the first free DLC, the Troll Trouble quest, is incorporated into the patch), and the possibility of inverting the mouse and re-mapping directional control on the keyboard.
The company is also aware of the associated Steam issues, and hopes to have it rectified by Monday.

I didn’t see any increase in performance, and there are still a ton of problems, but I guess they are on the right track. In a few months this will be more or less a polished experience I would imagine. Great game otherwise! I just wish the launch wasn’t so dreadfully messed up.
And of course my hat is off to them for having removed the DRM. I am more than willing to forgive being made into an unwilling beta-tester for so long as the developers’ hearts are in the right place. CDProjekt are certainly the good guys, no doubt in my mind about that.
Yeah, I don’t have anywhere near the grudge against DRM that Alaric does, but I have to say I respect it when companies remove DRM. I’d love to find out if that actually ends up translating into increased revenues. But I’ll say this: I hadn’t thought about buying The Witcher (1 or 2) until I saw this. Now, I’d give it a closer look.
Hats off to CDP all the way ,, Great game,, Amazing effort , a bit frustrating at the end but long may you continue to push the boundrys and make FUN rpg games.. 50 bucks for a BUNCH of kewl stuff, a walkthrough, dvd with soundtrack, dvd with features {nope didnt mind reading the text one bit} a Beautiful map , fancy envelope with treasure inside, and a GREAT FREAKIN RPG .. .. 50 bucks.. . mark my words you will not see this kind of Gem very often if ever again..
A pox upon Filthy publishers that want to ablolish printed items with a game release..
oh yeh and no im not interested in giving bEAware a cent for dlc or anything else , till LONG after release and even then, if its anything like DA 2.. wont buy at all..
Like Witcher I, I’m going to wait at least six months until I get Witcher II. The first game had lots of patches and I expected the sequel to have the same.
