Strap on your flamethrowers and charge up your pulse rifles, Gearbox and Sega have confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines a first-person shooter based on ‘Aliens’ is very much alive. “Aliens: Colonial Marines is indeed still coming as we’ve never said anything otherwise,” confirmed a representative from Sega. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford also confirmed that the game, previously announced for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, remains at his studio. Gearbox also confirmed that a DS version of the game is in development at another studio.

The game will have players engaging in squad-based combat through environments both old and new, including the abandoned interior of the Sulaco – the original ship the marines used in Aliens. The game will include both a standard single player mode along with four player co-op. (Which is handy as it gives those creepy face-huggers other targets as you flee, crying like a baby, in the opposite direction.) Remember it’s not just the pointy teeth you should be worried about; there will be plenty of nasty acid flying around so remember to pack some Rolaids.
