Sometimes the simplest of games can cause hours upon hours of what would be useful time to vanish. Simple concepts such as manipulating blocks falling from the sky or realigning jewels can eat up time like Pac Man, and now, using birds as catapult ammo joins the ranks.

With smart phones taking the world by storm, it makes sense that more and more developers are looking to cash in on the potential gaming market now available to them. But it’s a very tricky venture to make a game you can sell cheaply that doesn’t feel like a cheap game. Isaac Newton’s Gravity is an excellent example of this, a simple concept that is fun but not repetitive or boring.

The iPhone may well be the greatest thing I’ve ever purchased. I’ve virtually no sense of time or space, and the phone does both of those things for me. So long as I keep my iPhone charged, I will probably never be bored again. That is, of course, unless I use it to play Slingshot Cowboy.
