Review by: Brian Clair

Shakii the Wolf places you in the kingdom of Shake, once ruled by you, the noble leader Shakii. Unfortunately one day a powerful warrior called, Midnight Sword invaded Shake and conquored the kingdom, forcing Shakii to flee to the Land of the Giants. So begins the game of Shakii the Wolf, your quest to retake your kingdom and defeat Midnight Sword and his evil armies and allies. This game brings the console fun of games like Super Mario Brothers to the PC, entertaining the whole family. Thanks to the generous folks at Microforum, I was provided with a full copy version of this game to review.

Shakii the Wolf uses cartoon like graphics, cool enemies, multiple attack forms, and more to create a very entertaining computer game. As with most arcade style games, Shakii the Wolf is divided by levels, with each level having one main boss and/or a subboss. Unlike in Rebel Runner, characters are richly detailed in Shakii the Wolf, all of Shakii’s and his enemies movements are well animated — just like a watching a cartoon. There are many various enemies for you to battle in your travels also ranging from animated trees to rock creatures to name just a few. You’ll have to master not only movement of your character but also how to best defeat your enemies to get ahead in this game.

Shakii has several different methods of attack, his basic attack is a claw swipe and his used for close range combat. He also has a long range attack which consists of a rolling attack, this isn’t as powerful as other attacks but is good to get in the first strike. Shakii also has a special attack which makes him invincible for a short period of time and does great amounts of damage. However this attack uses some of Shakii’s life so you must use it sparingly. As if this wasn’t enough, Shakii can also transform later in the game which enhances his powers. His basic attack gets longer range and the ability to make multiple hits, and he gains the ability to cast fire winds.

There are also various items which some of Shakii’s enemies will drop after being slain that Shakii can pick up and use. These will either give him extra points, more health, an extra life, or make him invincible for a short period of time. This game has about 7 different levels to explore also, so you’ll have lots to explore and play in.
