This is the power of creative vision with a creator with enough control over the consistency of the product that everything can more or less line up straight and be true to the source material, even as it transforms into another medium.

Great review. I personally prefer the more shallow kind of games, but this was really worth reading.

"There was also a really weird line in the notes for patch 1.2: “Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced.” I don’t know what that is all about, but somehow it doesn’t sound good to me."

Originally, they used some Islamic textures common to those found on mosque prayer rugs. I like this touch; it adds depth and culture to a world. However, there was a controversy because they unintentionally left those prayer rugs in the main room of a brothel. When cdprojekt removed it, they said that connection was not something they ever intended. Honestly, I think it's a fair call. As someone from a Middle-Eastern country, I'll testify it's very outlandish that you'd see a prayer rug in prominent display at a brothel. People there are very sensitive about that kind of thing.
