Picture from Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Xbox 360 reviewOn the battlefield, each team is made up of five character classes that are so similar, I often couldn’t tell which one I was playing. The developers try to make the classes seem more important by providing character-specific objectives, which is ridiculous, since most of them involve holding down “x” next to something.

There are 12 levels in the game, spanning different regions of Earth, but with names such as island, volcano, sewer and canyon, there is nothing really exciting about them. The levels are big and they feature decent interior areas, but they’re mostly forgettable.

Picture from Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Xbox 360 reviewQuake Wars also includes numerous vehicles, environmental attacks (not level-specific, but cool nonetheless) and stationary armaments that fighters can use. The vehicles control poorly, and some are just downright tedious to maneuver; Quake Wars made operating a 3-story-tall AT-ST-like walker that shoots missiles an absolute bore.

But just how mediocre is Quake Wars? Click a button on your fancy InterWebs browser to find out.

Buy Bad Company by EA, do not waste your money on this game. I did and ended up trading it back in the next day. Not that impressed at all.

IMO, this could easily be a 2-page review since the 2nd page contains only a slight amount of text :)

I don’t own a 360 sadly, but I do regularly play Quake Wars: ET for the PC every Saturday night with a team of friends that are all in the same room as we venture onto servers on the “Interweb” and it’s a solid staple for us. The downside clearly at this point is the lack of custom maps.

I do like that it takes a bit from the Battlefield series, giving anyone of any level something to do. While I’m clearly not the fastest draw anymore (which I blame on lack of gametime to play than anything else), there are many other things to do to support a team, create openings and wedges in defenses – a true variety of things.

I’m trying to imagine playing with the 360 controller with this. Wow. Are you playing first person or 3rd person?

Thanks for the review!
